The brand name Assurant refers to a group of companies that specialize in products and services designed to help their customers feel financially safe and secure. The very first company that would later become part of Assurant began in 1892 under the name of the LaCrosse Mutual Aid Association, which sold disability insurance. In terms of life insurance, there are two kinds available through the Assurant brand: group life insurance and preneed life insurance. Group life insurance is sold through Assurant Employee Benefits and can include term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and dependent life insurance. Employers can get group life insurance even for a group that consists of only three employees, and employers can determine how much coverage to purchase by calculating earnings, basing it on a flat amount, or combining the two methods. For groups of employees that number ten or more, Assurant Employee Benefits offers levels of guaranteed issue.

Preneed Life Insurance

Preneed life insurance is sold by Assurant Solutions. Preneed life insurance allows policyholders to build up enough money to pay for their funerals in advance, thus relieving their families of this financial pressure. You may wonder why anyone would care about their funeral expenses – how expensive could it be? Apparently, very expensive - funeral expenses have been rising dramatically over the past 25 years to the point that they have tripled, and that rise isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon either.

Preneed life insurance can be paid for in one lump sum or over a period of time; Assurant Solutions offers policies that can be paid off in one year, three years, five years, seven years or ten years. Policyholders have the option of paying on an annual, quarterly or monthly schedule. All funeral expenses are predetermined, and policyholders can work with Assurant Solutions to select the right funeral package for their needs.
